Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe


snikerdoodle cookie recipe This Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe is a soft sugar cookie rolled in cinnamon sugar. The surface of this cookie is crackly, and can be soft or crisp depending on how you prefer them. You may want to experiment by adding nuts or chocolate chips.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
DIRECTIONS:

    Combine 1 1/2 cup sugar and butter beating until fluffy.

    Beat in eggs and vanilla.

    Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and add to beaten mixture.

    Combine 2 Tbsp sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon in a small bowl.

    Preheat oven 400°.

    Shape dough into 1 inch ball and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.

    Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.

Variations:

    Chocolate Snikerdoodles- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa can be substituted for 1/2 cup all purpose flour.Bake at 400° for 6 to 9 minutes or until set

    Whole wheat Snikerdoodles- A combination 1 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup all purpose flour can be substituted for 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour. Bake at 350° for 10 to 14 minutes or until set.
