Crackle Top Ginger Snaps Cookies


These Crackle Top Ginger Snaps Cookies are just waiting for a cold glass of milk. This is our favorite chewy cookie recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp lemon extract

DIRECTIONS:

    Cream shortening; add brown sugar.

    Blend in egg and molasses.

    Beat until light and fluffy.

    Add vanilla and lemon extract.

    Sift together dry ingredients.

    Blend into creamed mixture.

    Dough will be soft and not sticky.

    Chill at least 4 hours.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Shape dough into 1 1/2 inch balls.

    Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

    Do not flatten dough.

    Cook 12 minutes or until lightly brown and crackled.

    Remove to wire rack to cool.
