Cocoa Fudge Cake



Fudge Cake If you have a desire for a good, simple chocolate cake this Cocoa Fudge Cake should help end the craving.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups sifted cake or all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs, beaten lightly
DIRECTIONS:

    In a saucepan, combine the butter, shortening, cocoa and water
    and bring to a rolling boil.

    Sift together the sugar and flour and pour cocoa mixture over.

    Add buttermilk mixed with the baking soda.

    Add salt, vanilla and eggs.

    Pour batter into 15"X10"X1" greased and floured pan or cookie
    tin with raised edge.

    Bake 325° for 30 minutes.

Cocoa Frosting Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa
  • 6 Tbsp milk
  • 1 (1 pound)box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS:

    Bring butter, cocoa and milk to a boil, stirring constantly.

    Remove from heat and pour in the powdered sugar.

    Add the vanilla and pecans and spread on warm cake.

    When cool cut into 20 pieces.
