Burger Buns

Our Burger Buns Recipe is a tastier, superior bun when compared to store bought. It is worth the time it takes to make these buns. Try them and see for yourself.

Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2 to 5 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg, room temperature
DIRECTIONS:

Measure 1 3/4 cups flour into large mixer bowl.

    Add yeast; blend.

Measure milk, water, shortening, sugar and salt into a pan. Blend.

    Heat until warm (120°-130°).

Pour into flour, yeast mixture. Add egg.

Beat at low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly.

Beat 3 more minutes at high speed; stop mixer; gradually stir in more flour.

Dough will be soft and rather sticky.

    Knead 5-10 minutes until smooth.

Cover dough with bowl. Let rest for 20 minutes.

Shape dough into 20 balls, 2" in diameter.

Place balls about on inch apart on two 12"X15" greased baking sheets.

    Flatten with knuckles.

    Cover; let rise 30-50 minutes.

Bake about 8-10 minutes in 400° oven until golden brown.

Remove from pans and cool on racks. Brush with butter.
