You'll find yourself clicking and browsing FOREVER!"

This Old Fasioned Turkey Dressing recipe has been used by our family for years. Usually we prepare it in advance of the turkey and it's hard to resist eating your fill before the big bird is ready. This cornbread dressing recipe is also good to use as a Turkey Stuffing Recipe.

Ingredients for Dressing:

  • 8 cup day old corn bread, crumbled
  • 2 cups white bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 cups onions, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups celery, chopped
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground
  • Giblet meat from broth (below)
Directions for Dressing:

Sauté onion and celery in butter until tender.

In a large mixing bowl, mix bread crumbs with sautéed onions and celery.

Add butter, seasonings and giblet meat.

    Mix well.

Add enough turkey broth (recipe follows) to moisten enough to press into a cookie sheet.

Dressing should be about 1/2" thick.

Bake at 425° until golden brown.

    Cut into serving size pieces.

Ingredients for Turkey Broth

  • Turkey giblets removed from turkey
  • 2 or 3 tops of celery
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 medium onion, quartered

Cover with water and add rest of ingredients.

Bring to a boil, cover, turn heat to medium and cook for two hours or until tender.

Cool to room temperature and cut up giblet meat for dressing.

Alternative: Turkey Stuffing Recipe

Rather than baking add just a little more broth and stuff thawed turkey.
